Content Hub packages connectors, analytics, workbooks, parsers, hunting queries, playbooks, and other integration content. It accelerates deployment, but a package is not a production design: validate every component against your data, roles, retention, and response model.
Evaluate a solution¶
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Supported connector and table | Content cannot detect what your environment does not ingest |
| Required roles and identities | Playbooks and connectors can require privileges beyond analysts |
| Analytics dependencies | Rules may reference tables, parsers, watchlists, or other content |
| Data volume and retention | A solution can increase cost or require historical context |
| Automation behavior | Imported playbooks must match your approval and containment policy |
| Update ownership | Content changes can alter query logic, entities, and incidents |
Deployment pattern¶
- Review the publisher, prerequisites, included components, and update notes.
- Install the solution in a non-production or pilot workspace where possible.
- Connect the required data and validate table schema before enabling analytics.
- Enable rules in an observation period with defined tuning thresholds.
- Review incidents, entity mappings, workbooks, and automation dependencies.
- Promote the approved version through infrastructure as code or a controlled release process.
Govern content changes¶
Maintain an inventory of solution name, publisher, version, installed components, workspace, owner, approval, exception, and update date. Compare new versions with the local customization before accepting an update. Avoid directly editing vendor content when a cloned rule or documented overlay is the safer maintenance path.
Business example¶
A security operations center (SOC) installs a cloud-security solution to accelerate onboarding. Its analytics rules initially generate alerts without the expected account entity because the connector is using a different table schema in the pilot. The detection engineer corrects the mapping, runs controlled tests, and documents the required content version before promoting the solution to production workspaces.
